Oh man just when I think things couldn’t get any wildier, and stupider (I am aware that’s not a word, but quite funny in this context) they do. So I am writing this on the 4 hour ferry ride between Hvar and Dubrovnik… I got on board today after a heavy day of day drinking on the beach, I cut loose, fell asleep woke up with 45 minutes to catch the ferry, still had to go back to the hostel, pack everything up, and run to the port. I made it, but 10 minutes into the trip I realized that I left my passport, credit cards, and a stack o’cash safely locked up in a safe in my hostel on the ISLAND of Hvar…Talk about a buzz kill, but, point noted, day drinking into oblivion is a bad call when you’ve got to pack all your shit up and catch a 5:30 PM ferry ride to Dubrovnik. Hvar is tricky to get to from anywhere, at least 4 to 5 hours each way from Dubrovnik, I nearly jumped overboard and starting swimming back for my shit, but realized there are probably better solutions, just have to think my way through it. I’ll have to figure that one out soon, but while on the boat there is nothing that I can do. So I’ll just write about the hell of a day I had yesterday.
I got up polished off the usual quart of yogurt and rice cereal for breakfast then rented a scooter to rally around the island for the day.
Turns out I really miss Moto…Saw a dirt trail off the road and just couldn’t resist.

The trail was seriously miles and miles long, and lead me to the tallest peak on the Island of Hvar.

Don’t worry the shirt is from a party at a club on the island where everyone is supposed to dress in white.

Had lunch in the town of Jelsa. It was super rad!
Stopped in a few different spots and took a quick dip to cool off an relax a bit.
Riding one headed was a great call…
Glad I got some footy for the boys hahaha…
I am going to buy a Harley when I get home…
Second shot was through the my polarized lenses, kinda rad.
The views of the island were epic and the roads were so nice and well maintained. I was draggin’ knees on the way back from the tip of the island, all the way down this canyon. It was too epic. I was battling with a dude in a passaut, he’d pull away on the straights, but I’d catch him in the corners. I got around him eventually, he gave a friendly honk wave and smile hahaha…
“I don’t think this ride back is going to suck” – Me hahahaha the irony of that statement.
So yeah I had an epic day. I logged 123 miles that day but actually went a few more, because I didn’t think of Strava until I was already cruising for a bit.

I was 18 kilometers away from the city of Hvar when the gas light kicked on, within two minutes she was dead… Nearest town was roughly 6 KM uphill… So pushed the hog into town. It was mostly residential and the light from the sun was disappearing quickly…I walked around saying “Doe Verdad” which at the time I thought meant Hello…Direct translation “Good day” hahaha I bet I looked and sounded like a champ seeing as it was night and I still had my half lid helmet on.
As luck would have it I wound up talking to a family that informed me that all gas stations close at 8 PM on the island and that the town I was in didn’t even sell gas had it been before 8 PM. It was 9:35…They gave me a plastic container and pointed me in the direction of some rental shops that may have some gas.
On the way to the rental shop I walked past a crowded bar with some people outside. I asked them if they knew where I could get some gas…The dude pictured above sprung into action and two minutes later came back with a hose. He opened the tank to his bike and started siphoning the gas himself. I said I would do it. I swallowed quite a bit in the process, its toxic shit…I literally thought I was going to die right then and there coughing, sputtering, gasping for breath, and eventually vomiting all over the parking lot…But I pulled through. Bought the man a drink and slipped him a 100 Kuna, even though he actually turned out to be the owner of the bar so money wasn’t an issue, it was more on principle.
So I left the town of Stari Grand and headed for Hvar with a nearly full tank of gas. Got about 6 Kilometers out of town and….
She heat ceased on me and would not run longer than 30 seconds at a time. I suppose I rallied her to the breaking point…Just unfortunate it was at night, in an area where I did not have any cell service and it was a new moon, so pretty much total darkness, as they don’t believe in street lights on the island or something. Star gazing was epic though, caught a few shooting stars and eventually got a ride back to the hostel and slept like a newborn.
Oh yeah about the whole passport, credit cards, and cash shituation…Luckily for me I made friends with a bunch of people in Hvar and a few of them were coming to Dubrovnik 3 days from when I left Hvar. I made the decision after much thought to send them the com to my lock, hope they wouldn’t take all cash, max out all my credit cards and sell my passport on the Albanian black market, as it would easily fetch $40,000+. So I waited until tonight to post this story…The girls showed up with all my shit, I owe em all a drink or 10.
